rules
Season Info - Competitive

The Competitive division will run from July 12, 2025 - November 22, 2025.

Games will be on Saturdays at Red River College North Gym between 12-9PM.

Teams will get 14 guaranteed games.

All games will be livestreamed.

Player stats will be recorded and uploaded on our website.

We will have shooting competitions.
-
There are prizes for the top 3 teams and shooting competition winners.

A team will not be considered as registered until the form has been submitted along with a payment via e-transfer to hyperathleticleague@gmail.com

A roster form will be sent to the captain to fill out following the completion of registration. The last day to make any changes to the team roster will be June 15th. After this date you cannot make any changes. Players that are not on the roster will not be allowed to participate in playoffs. Subs are allowed during the regular season if players on the roster are unable to attend the game.

Players in this tier are not allowed to play in any other divisions with the exception of coed.

There is a maximum of 2 collegiate players allowed on a team.

All players MUST fill out and submit a waiver before their first game, including subs.

All players MUST be wearing a jersey in a similar dominant colour as the rest of the team, including subs.
-
If wearing a common colour (i.e. black or white) please have an alternate colour prepared or select a different colour.
Season Info - Recreational

The Recreational summer league will run from July 13, 2025 - September 28, 2025.

Games will be on Sundays at Red River College North Gym between 12-8PM.

Teams will get 8 guaranteed games.

Collegiate Players will NOT be allowed to play in this division.

All games will be livestreamed.

The only player stats that will be recorded is points (made, 3 pointers and free throws made) and uploaded on our website.

We will have shooting competitions.

There are prizes for the top team and shooting competition winners.

A minimum of two females must be on the court at all times.

Game Rules
-
Game times listed are game START times, teams should arrive before then to get ready and warm up. If a team is not ready by tip-off time the team receives a technical foul and the other team is awarded a free throw.

Four players may start the game but not enough players before the second quarter will result in a DEFAULT
-
Games will be four quarters, each 10 minutes in length. It will be STOP TIME for time outs and free throws only. 24 second shot clock and 8 seconds to advance the ball over the half court line.

In the case of overtime, the TARGET SCORE* rules will be in effect and each team gets one time out each.
-
Seeding and Schedule for playoffs will be determined by the win-loss ratio, In the case that two or more teams have the same ratio, the head to head game score will be taken into account.

Games will follow FIBA rules
-
Teams will get two time outs per half. Time outs must be requested at the scorer’s table and not yelled at refs. Time outs are granted when the play stops or the team that requested the time out is scored upon.

Substitutions during games must be requested at the scorer’s table. Subs will be called in when the play stops. In the case of a free throw, it must be made before the first time out or after the second free throw if it’s made.

A player will foul out after 5 fouls (including both personal and technical). (2) Penalty or bonus free throws following the 5th team foul of the quarter.

If you are on the bench, please do not stand especially if you are close to the score table as it may confuse the refs as a sub or interfere with the scorekeepers vision of the court.

There is ZERO-TOLERANCE for verbal or physical abuse to any of the Hyper Athletic League team, including referees, scorekeepers, etc. Hyper Athletic League may ask individuals to leave the venue and may not be permitted to return depending on the severity of the mistreatment.
Sub rules
In the case that a team cannot get enough players from their roster to attend a regular season game, they are permitted to have a sub play for their team as long as they:

Do not play another team in the same division

Have completed and submitted a waiver
-
Wear a numbered jersey with a similar dominant colour as the team
-
Have signed in with the score table
Subs are NOT permitted for any playoff game.
Gym Rules
-
No food is permitted inside the gym as per the Red River College policy.

Please don't litter. Clean up after yourself.
-
Outdoor shoes must be left outside the gym on the designated mats. Indoor and non-marking shoes can be worn inside. This is to protect the gym floors, keep the courts clean and the players safe.
*Target score: The clock is shut off. A Target Score is set by adding 5 points to the leading team's score. The first team to reach the Target Score wins the game.
